With an H.O. SBC Crate, T56 six speed, 9” rear, and not much else, this little street rod is scary fast. Before the days of 700 hp land yachts and traction control the recipe for mortal fear was quite simple. All you needed was a strong V8, a stick shift, and minimal body. While the recipe is simple, not all casseroles taste the same. It’s the subtle touches and clear vision that bridge the gap between a standard jalopy rat-rod, and a clean classy street rod. Without much body to lean on, the proportions, engine placement, axle placement, and exhaust become the defining features. It’s a good example of the expression that simple doesn’t inherently mean easy.
