1965 Rambler

770 Classic

Equipped with the optional 327 V8 this car came from the factory with 300 hp. This little Rambler is a reminder that even if things aren’t good, they can still be great. This was a previous owner’s project car that we picked up from Facebook Marketplace. It was at the shop less than a week before we cut the coils and slammed it down. The period correct roof-top carrier was another Marketplace score, and the Grand Marquis snowflake wheels came from our personal stockpile of take-offs. We went through the car undoing years of plumbing and electrical band-aid fixes. We went through the steering, brakes, and got new shocks to account for the low-life stance. With a fresh set of tires it was ready to pass on to the next caretaker. Saving cars doesn’t always mean a full restoration. Sometimes it means picking up something that is a little too much work for the average person and bringing it up to a level that it’s generally safe and reliable. That way the next owner can enjoy it long enough to fall in love and keep it going. Projects like this are more a labor of love rather than money makers. However projects like this keep cars from being forgotten in someone’s field, and give people a good starting point to make it their own.
